1. When Moses finished setting up the Holy Tent, he gave it for service to the Lord by pouring olive oil on the Tent and on everything used in it. He also poured oil on the altar and all its tools to prepare them for service to the Lord.

1. And it came to pass H1961 on the day H3117 that Moses H4872 had fully H3615 set up H6965 H853 the tabernacle H4908 , and had anointed H4886 it , and sanctified H6942 it , and all H3605 the instruments H3627 thereof , both the altar H4196 and all H3605 the vessels H3627 thereof , and had anointed H4886 them , and sanctified H6942 them;

2. Then the leaders of Israel made offerings. These were the heads of the families, the leaders of each tribe who counted the people.

2. That the princes H5387 of Israel H3478 , heads H7218 of the house H1004 of their fathers H1 , who H1992 were the princes H5387 of the tribes H4294 , and were over H5975 them H1992 that were numbered H5921 H6485 , offered H7126 :

3. They brought to the Lord six covered carts and twelve oxen -- each leader giving an ox, and every two leaders giving a cart. They brought these to the Holy Tent.

3. And they brought H935 H853 their offering H7133 before H6440 the LORD H3068 , six H8337 covered H6632 wagons H5699 , and twelve H8147 H6240 oxen H1241 ; a wagon H5699 for H5921 two H8147 of the princes H5387 , and for each one H259 an ox H7794 : and they brought H7126 them before H6440 the tabernacle H4908 .

4. The Lord said to Moses,

4. And the LORD H3068 spoke H559 unto H413 Moses H4872 , saying H559 ,
|

5. "Accept these gifts from the leaders and use them in the work of the Meeting Tent. Give them to the Levites as they need them."
|
5. Take H3947 it of H4480 H854 them , that they may be H1961 to do H5647 H853 the service H5656 of the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 ; and thou shalt give H5414 them unto H413 the Levites H3881 , to every man H376 according to H6310 his service H5656 .

6. So Moses accepted the carts and the oxen and gave them to the Levites.
|
6. And Moses H4872 took H3947 H853 the wagons H5699 and the oxen H1241 , and gave H5414 them unto H413 the Levites H3881 .
|
|
7. He gave two carts and four oxen to the Gershonites, which they needed for their work.
|
7. H853 Two H8147 wagons H5699 and four H702 oxen H1241 he gave H5414 unto the sons H1121 of Gershon H1648 , according to H6310 their service H5656 :

8. Then Moses gave four carts and eight oxen to the Merarites, which they needed for their work. Ithamar son of Aaron, the priest, directed the work of all of them.

8. And four H702 wagons H5699 and eight H8083 oxen H1241 he gave H5414 unto the sons H1121 of Merari H4847 , according unto H6310 their service H5656 , under the hand H3027 of Ithamar H385 the son H1121 of Aaron H175 the priest H3548 .

9. Moses did not give any oxen or carts to the Kohathites, because their job was to carry the holy things on their shoulders.
|
9. But unto the sons H1121 of Kohath H6955 he gave H5414 none H3808 : because H3588 the service H5656 of the sanctuary H6944 belonging unto H5921 them was that they should bear H5375 upon their shoulders H3802 .

10. When the oil was poured on the altar, the leaders brought their offerings to it to give it to the Lord's service; they presented them in front of the altar.
|
10. And the princes H5387 offered H7126 H853 for dedicating H2598 of the altar H4196 in the day H3117 that it was anointed H4886 , even the princes H5387 offered H7126 H853 their offering H7133 before H6440 the altar H4196 .

11. The Lord told Moses, "Each day one leader must bring his gift to make the altar ready for service to me."
|
11. And the LORD H3068 said H559 unto H413 Moses H4872 , They shall offer H7126 H853 their offering H7133 , each H259 prince H5387 on his day H3117 H259 H5387 H3117 , for the dedicating H2598 of the altar H4196 .
